UNFCU is expanding its presence into the Washington DC area and is currently seeking Financial Advisors to assist clients in achieving their financial goals by offering a wide range of financial products and services.
Accountabilities:
Identify prospective clients for our investment services through a variety of prospecting strategies such as networking and partnerships with other professionals, such as: accountants and attorneys.
Analyze the financial situation of clients to assess which investment opportunities would best fit their needs.
Recommend strategies clients can use to achieve their financial goals and objectives, including advice on debt management, cash management, insurance coverage, and investments.
Identify opportunities to cross-sell other UNFCU products/services, such as insurance and mortgages.
Meet with clients through referrals and walk-ins; ask probing questions to reveal what investment options would be best for each person.
Identify and keep abreast of new market trends.
Monitor financial market trends to ensure that plans are effective, and identify any necessary updates.
Review clients' accounts and plan regularly to determine whether life changes, economic changes, or financial performance, indicate a need for plan reassessment.
Conduct seminars and workshops on topics such as, retirement planning, estate planning, and the evaluation of severance packages.
Handle customer complaints and resolve problems.
Monitor the effectiveness and satisfaction level of each client by contacting him or her periodically to discuss their investment results, current goals/financial/objectives and any new developments that would impact their investment objectives.
Participate in investment seminars, which introduce clients to the products and services offered by the Investment Centre.
Monitor the special occasions within a client’s life through which a new investment opportunity might arise.
Qualifications:
An incumbent in this position must possess a full range of knowledge in investments and insurance products and opportunities. Must be able to meet with non-UNFCU members and establish a relationship through which a proper investment plan can be created. Work assignments require the use of independent judgment on all investment issues. Exceptional service skills are required to build a long lasting relationship with each member so proper products can be presented as investment options. A typical pathway to obtaining the requisite knowledge and skills is graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in finance, with at least five years of experience in an investment area. Must posses Series 7 and 66 certification as well as a current life and health insurance license.
