Description:
In this position you will be responsible for providing assistance and support for a broad range of functions within the investment area overseeing UNFCU’s $2.2BN fixed income securities portfolio. Your primary focus will be to support the existing credit analysis and portfolio analytics functions, but may also include working alongside department management on special projects.
Accountabilities:
Locate and gather municipal financial data across a broad range of issuers, including general obligations and various revenue authorities
Alert credit analyst of municipal financial filings, credit rating changes and new debt issuance from existing exposures
Compile regional and national economic data in concert with existing municipal credit surveillance
Design, implement and maintain a monthly economic data summary capturing various domestic and international measures (i.e. housing, production, employment, etc.), as well as maintain and expand the existing market rates monitor
Conduct annual written analysis of critical vendors and other potential credit union business partners
Maintain existing security purchase and redemption logs, backup trade authorization routines, and monitor the settlement of investment transactions as needed
Conduct monthly bond pricing requests and maintain historical responses
Provide various levels of assistance to the monthly portfolio analytics process, including mortgage characteristic and performance reporting; transaction reconciliations; and other reporting routines
Interact with investment accounting and asset-liability management colleagues, as well as outside broker-dealers and research analysts, as needed
Perform other functions as required by management
Qualifications:
Our ideal candidate would have approximately three years of fixed income credit and/or portfolio analytics experience, preferably from a buy-side asset manager, insurance firm, credit union or bank, or a credit ratings agency. Knowledge of various fixed income products is required, along with experience in sorting through complicated financial statements, disclosures and research, particularly within the municipal sector. Proven ability to produce independently and to succinctly write financial summaries, as well as possessing a drive to learn more about U.S. fixed income, particularly the credit side, is required. Advanced skills in Excel, Access and Bloomberg terminal are required.
A four-year undergraduate and/or advanced degree in finance, accounting, or economics is required. Progress towards the CFA charter preferred, supported and encouraged.
