Description:
Will develop, edit, and manage high quality Business Intelligence (BI) documentation that is consistent, accurate, clear, engaging, and easy to understand. Will develop, update, enhance, compile, and maintain data dictionaries, report documentation, dashboard manuals, KPI play books, BI scope documents, BI procedures, BI training documentation, business case documentation, system capabilities, content inventories, BI enhancements, and user guides. The documentation will address the needs of the target audience and support self service information retrieving activities for management, business analysts, report writers, and business end users in compliance with internal communication guidelines and requirements. Leverages creativity and business knowledge to write tangible, benefit-focused materials that encompass precise instructions, definitions, system knowledge and capabilities.
Accountabilities:
• Gathers, analyzes, translates, and composes technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel.
• Conducts research and analysis to update valid and accurate documentation and ensures the use of proper technical terminology.
• Acquires subject matter knowledge by interviewing business managers, analysts, report and dashboard developers, training specialists, systems subject matter experts, and key end users, observing performance of production methods and researching technical specifications.
• Translates complex data into user-friendly documents, such as user stories or analysis documents, to communicate technical specifications and instructions clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences.
• Create robust, intuitive and simple to understand documentation for optimum user search indexing that anticipates and meets existing and future reference needs of staff.
• Coordinates the review and revision of documentation.
• Responsible for storing data related documents and updating inventories for document retrieval and archives.
• Utilizes and follows corporate documentation standards and guidelines to ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures and regulatory standards and circulate in accordance with established procedures.
• Assembles existing documentation and assess information gaps with guidance from management.
• Responsible for saving, cataloging, and retrieving documents. Maintains the integrity of working documents.
• Continuously learns and understands internal data management and reporting systems.
• Reviews BI deliverables from analysts and makes suggestions to improve the quality of business and technical documentation.
• Gathers and generates monthly summaries of Business Intelligence accomplishments.
• Stays current with industry trends and advises and educates management on their relative importance and impact.
• Authors, edits, rewrites, and verifies with stakeholders that all communication and knowledge base materials meet their needs for use by end users. Ensures proper storage, delivery and archiving of all documentation, including knowledge base articles, documentation, and communication through all phases of the content lifecycle.
• Assures standardization of UNFCU BI knowledge base terms, format, controls and documentation.
Qualifications:
TYPE & AMOUNT OF EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in business or information systems and 3-4 years of experience in end user documentation related to software systems
• Minimum of 2 years of technical writing experience in developing system information process flows and data management system reference documents
• Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques and content management, including indexing and using keywords
• Experience with video demonstrations and eLearning is a plus
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
• Ability to analyze and transform custom BI tools, analytics, and reports into accurate, user-friendly documentation
• Knowledge about how information is acquired, transmitted, stored, deleted, and otherwise processed.
• Good project management skills, including strength in managing and organizing multiple initiatives with various timelines
• Ability to research, analyze, and gather knowledge about existing relational databases and applications used at UNFCU
• Strong knowledge of cataloging and archiving techniques
• Familiar with database and reporting knowledge and business acumen including banking operations and document management systems
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe and Adobe InDesign
• Aptitude for strong visual display of information and producing images as part of effective content design
• Ability to ask the right questions to create thorough documentation
• Interest and willingness to explore new tools and uses of technology to support learning

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS:
• Standard office conditions
• Critical Business Intelligence system outages and upgrades may require 24/7 coverage on short notice
