POSITION PURPOSE
The Lending Quality Control Analyst is responsible for the review of a sample of mortgage and consumer loan files to ensure compliance with secondary market and regulatory requirements, including review of legal and underwriting documents and procedures. The position is also responsible for analyzing lending risk including interest rate risk, credit risk and underlying collateral value risk for real estate and consumer lending. Incumbent works closely with Mortgage Underwriters, Loan Officers, Processors, Closers, and vendors to perform duties. Responsible for determining the accuracy of all originated loans and that the same are in compliance with all federally regulated guidelines, informing the Mortgage and Consumer Loan Departments of any procedures that are satisfactory and unsatisfactory, and facilitating the servicing needs of UNFCU and its membership.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The Lending Quality Control Analyst reports to the AVP – Risk Management and is independent of the Lending Operations team. This position is responsible for analyzing UNFCU’s lending portfolios (mortgage and consumer) for QC compliance, concentrations of risk, assessing the impact of policy changes, analyzing the performance of risk-based pricing and automated decisioning, and working with third-party vendors to validate credit scoring models.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide comprehensive monthly Quality Control Analysis based upon a 10-20% review of mortgages and consumer loans. Identifies and recommends enhancements to lending policy and procedures to reduce errors and mitigate risk.
Conduct ongoing portfolio analysis to identify concentration of credit risk by loan type, by member type, by country and by UN agency in order to effectively monitor exposure and recommend changes to loan policy as needed. Works closely to coordinate analysis with Loss Prevention, Quality Control and Lending areas.
Rapid response to Executive Management requests for ad-hoc analysis and reporting. Prepare risk findings for Executive and Senior Management.
Conduct professional monthly Quality Control meetings with Consumer Loan Supervisor, Mortgage Sales Manager, Mortgage Operations Manager and Loan Servicing Manager to review Quality Control Analysis results and to collaborate on process/policy improvements.
Liaises with third party credit scoring vendor to conduct validation of scoring models to ensure accuracy and compliance. Provides recommendations to update lending policy based on validation results.
Prepares formal presentations for Senior Management related to credit risk analysis and loan portfolio reviews as required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
An incumbent in this position must possess a strong overall knowledge of mortgage/consumer lending regulations and secondary market requirements and terminology, excellent communication skills, as well as the skills/abilities to fulfill the accountabilities described in this document. A typical pathway to obtaining the requisite knowledge and skills is graduation from a four-year college or university and a minimum of 3-5 years related experience. Proficiency in applicable PC/software skills (MS Suite), professional appearance and willingness to work flexible hours desired. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work well independently are necessary.
